Booking.com ranks Flecheiras as most welcoming destination in Northeast Brazil

Every year, Booking.com ranks locations for their warm welcome for travellers. This year, Flecheiras in Ceará took the prize for the most welcoming destination in Northeast Brazil. This beachside resort is renowned for its natural beauty, tranquillity and local hospitality.

Number 6 in the national ranking

The 12th annual Traveller Review Awards ranked the most welcoming destinations in Brazil in 2024 based on over 309 million verified reviews. Sao Bento do Sapucai, in Sao Paulo, stood in first place, followed by Pedra Azul in Espirito Santo and Carrancas in Minas Gerais in second and third, respectively.

Flecheiras, one of the loveliest and quietest beaches in Ceará, ranked in 6th place as the most welcoming destination in Brazil. Furthermore, it’s the only one of two representatives in Northeast Brazil, with Maraú in Bahia in 7th position.

To rank for the award, destinations must have at least 50 eligible accommodation types on Booking.com. In Flecheiras, these range from posada-type establishments to luxury beach resorts such as The Coral

The judges look for guests’ comments on a destination’s hospitality and then rank the locations accordingly. Brazil also claimed the top position in the Most Welcoming City on Earth 2024, with Arraial d’Ajuda in Bahia taking the top spot.

About Flecheiras

This small coastal resort sits on the Atlantic Ocean, some 130km north of Fortaleza, the capital of Ceará. Flecheiras is considered one of the most idyllic locations in the state and is renowned for its tranquillity and natural beauty.

Unlike other beaches in Ceará such as Jericocoara and Cambuco, two of the most-visited spots in the state, Flecheiras remains relatively off the tourist radar. However, the beach has started to gain international prominence over the last few years. For example, at the 2022 International Tourist Fair, Brazil showcased Flecheiras.

The beach has also appeared on the international kitesurf circuit over the last five years. As a result, it has been called the “new Jeri” in reference to the uber-famous resort of Jericoacoara in the north of Ceará. Several kitesurf schools have opened along the Flecheiras stretch of the coast, including Ocean Kite Club by GKC at The Coral Resort.
